Around 60 members and friends of Golspie Golf Club enjoyed an entertaining night in the clubhouse on Saturday to honour one of it’s stalwarts.

Sheila Robertson was awarded a lifetime membership for her invaluable contribution to the club.

In presenting her with her lifetime certificate, Captain William MacBeath spoke of the endless hours which Sheila devotes to the club, whether coaching juniors,

attending to the flower beds, behind the bar, organising events – or even winning championships!

She joined just two other members who had life time memberships – Robert Beaton and Donny Jack.

In a witty speech, Dicky Mackay also praised her efforts, including some previously unknown facts about her!

Sheila was presented with a bouquet of flowers by her great nieces, Heidi and Eve who were surprise visitors on the night.

Everyone enjoyed an excellent buffet and various entertainment, including from several members of the Sutherland Caledonian Pipe Band.

Look out for further news on a new Pro-Am tournament being held jointly with Tain Golf Club in 2018 supported by the SGU and sponsors yet to be announced featuring golfers from the Scottish Order of Merit.

A qualifier for the amateur teams will be held on Golspie Golf Course on the 30 September 2017.
